Pink 8x10

Pink 8x10 oil on canvas

It's the time of the year when all the stores have poinsettia for sale. When I saw this shade of the pink ,I grabbed it.  I waited for the sun to come out and the weather to allow me to paint outside and did this.  Painting from life is the way to go.

Merry Christmas

Aster and Company Garden 9x12

Aster and Company Garden 9x12 oil on canvas

I created this at the Master's Garden in Granbury.  This was during my last visit there and the weather was perfect. The Garden has proved to be a source of inspiration for me.  It's packed with plenty of color and good spot for a plein air painter.

Butterfly Magnet 9x12

Butterfly Magnet 9x12 oil on canvas panel

I created this after visiting the Master Garden in Granbury.  The butterflies were wild with this milkweed plant. They are fun to chase around the gardens, trying to capture a good picture.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones.

This was inspired from the Master's Garden in Granbury.  I choice this path to highlight the cool colors of the aster and roses. Spending time in this garden makes me happy. I find a painting everywhere I turn.

Gift of the Iris Garden 8x10

Gift of the Iris Garden 8x10 oil on canvas

The iris garden in the front yard of this small house and the rising sun caught my eye. The brilliant yellow of these lacy flowers were fun to capture on canvas.  This bright spot is located near downtown Fort Worth and is in an industrial section of the city.

Hot Pink Cactus 14x18

Hot Pink Cactus 14x18 oil on wood panel

This was inspired from a trip to Big Bend. The array of colors in the desert were surprising. The deep colors are intensified after long periods of no rain. They come in a rainbow of colors. Eye candy!

Misty Morning 24x20

Misty Morning24x20 oil on canvas

I was drawn to the coolness of the landscape and the warm morning light.  The small creek leads you to the distant hill side.  This was created using the palette knife, building texture one layer at a time.

From's Amy Garden 12x9

From Amy's Garden

12x9 oil on wood panel

I snagged more of my neighbor, Amy's sunflowers. I set up this still life in the sun. The heat from the sun will melt the flowers, so I worked fast.  Pre-mix paints and a palette knife help with the process.

I was visiting my friend and neighbor, Amy and discover she had sunflowers growing in her side garden. I quickly borrowed some and came home and went to work.  They were just what I needed for a little inspiration.http:\\www.sherijonesart.com

Sunny Ones 11x14

Sunny Ones 11x14 oil on wood panel

I love to change up the surface I paint on and using a wood  panel coated with a few layers of gesso is just what I need for a little challenge.  My neighbor let me pick some of her sunflowers to create this little still life. I was inspired.

Iris Garden in Bloom 20x24

Iris Garden in Bloom 20x24 oil on canvas

I get excited with I see iris flowers in bloom.  Their delicate colors and petals remind me of my Mother- in-law. She had a large garden of iris of every color.  They lined her front yard and were beautiful.  My inspiration for this was from painting at the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens in the spring time.

Barbara's Blue Gate - 12x9

Barbara's Blue Gate 12x9 oil on canvas  Sold

I painted this during the Ft. Worth Historic Garden Tour. I was fortunate to paint at Barbara's house. She had an artist flair I found inspiring.  She fashioned still life paintings in every aspect of the garden. I had a wonderful time painting here.

Bridge Garden 9x12 oil on canvas-sold

I created this at the Botanical Gardens in Ft. Worth recently.  I don't have a lot of time, so this was a spontaneous reaction. The gardens are lovely now and I am glad I was able to stop by to paint.  I'm in and out in a flash! So fun.
