Meranda Among the Crape Myrtles

This painting is a a portrait of my great niece, Meranda.  I started a series of the children in my family last year  and continue to paint them. They are a constant source of inspiration.

During the month of February I am highlighting paintings with a splash of red in them. This is also to remind you of a group show I am participating in with the Lake Granbury Art Association. This is not part of the show, but is still available for purchase.

For the Love of Fishing

I'm pleased to say this painting has been selected to show at Dutch Art Gallery during their fall show "All You Need is Love" .

The show opens Saturday, December 4th. Stayed tuned for reception information.

Since the beginning of the year, I set a goal to paint the children in my family.

This is my great niece, Kylie. Her grandfather loves to be outside fishing or hunting. He is passing on the love to his grandchildren. As soon as he posted this photo of her with her prize catch, I knew I wanted to paint it. It just seemed to fit in with the theme of the show "All You Need is Love." I loved everything about this, from her t-shirt to the fish and lovely lake behind her. Painting it was pure joy.

This is the second portrait I completed for my cousin of his oldest grand daughter. She's is a reader and always has her focus on her next book. I just loved the light on this one. It was a joy to paint.
