This is inspired from one of my all time favorite painting locations in Benbrook, Texas. The rising sun draped the clouds with warm colorful light and begged me to paint it. I used the brush to lay in the colors and shapes and added texture using the palette knife.

The park near Benbrook lake is my inspiration for this sunrise painting. I drive through the park on my way to work and if I time it right I see the sun come up. The golden hour where the sun cast bright colors everywhere. This was a joy to paint using the palette knife and all these warm colors. Laura lives across the street from my in-laws in Granbury. While visiting them I noticed her irises blooming. I gathered reference photos and thought about painting this for several years. I'm glad I finally did. This was painted in the studio and painted with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.
Johnson City Garden

I participated in a paint out in Johnson City during their Lavendar festival. We stayed in a charming bed and breakfast that had a beautiful garden filled with blooming flowers. I painted a smaller version of this that sold. This was painted in the studio and painted with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

This was painted in the studio and inspired from a small plein air painting. I met a group of artist at Fossil Rim in Glen Rose in the Spring. It was a good year for the blue bonnets and plein air painters. This was painted with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

This vibrant water garden grabbed my attention. I knew I wanted to explore the contrasting colors in the lily pads and flowers. I used the palette knife building texture and color creating this soothing landscape.

This is my husband's restored 52 Chevy truck. He came along on a paint out with me and the truck was in the perfect setting. I painted and he waited patiently for me. We love to take the truck out on these little adventures.

I try to go to the Ft Worth Botanical Gardens as often as I can to see what is in bloom. The hydrangeas and phlox were glowing in the morning sun on this warm summer day. I painted this with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

I created this from a couple of small studies I created at Clark Gardens in Weatherford, Texas. I did ramp up the colors and texture. Combining the warms and cool colors together was a balancing act.

I created this with the still-life set up in the sun outside in my garden. The wind was high and it forced the props to shift a bit. It finally evolved into this. We filmed the process so it should be posted on my web site soon.

Fresh flowers and a bath towel motivated this still life painting. I set this up outside and usually use the towel to protect the table. It worked with what I had in mind. These fresh flowers are the first to bloom and remind me spring is near.

This past weekend the weather was cold and miserable. It was a perfect day to paint inside. It was bright and sunny in my studio painting this still life.
I created this from my Valentine's day flowers. I really took advantage of the huge bundle my sweet husband brought home. It's a gift that keeps on giving. I do LOVE fresh flowers.
