Their soothing colors are good for my soul. Blue bonnet hills forever.

Lake Side Show

This beautiful sunset was inspired from an evening on Lake Granbury.   The changing light  of the moving sun always inspires me.  I hope this painting  inspires you with the bright and cherry colors.

Wild Flower Blues

Wild Flower Blues 14x11 oil on canvas

The blue bonnets are at their peak now. I may have to practice some social distancing on a ranch near by.  My plein air box is calling me.

This is from a plein air session a few years ago at the ranch in Glen Rose.

Spring Buds

Spring Buds

24x18 oil on gallery wrapped canvas

Here's a blast of spring color to brighten your day.  It's a great time to be outside and enjoy the weather. The flowers are blooming, birds are singing and there seems to be a painting around every corner.   Take a walk and you will see. Spring is everywhere.

Like a Rainbow

Like A Rainbow 8x10 oil on canvas

Fields and Fields of wild flowers are the result of rains and storms. After every storm comes the rainbow. Stay strong because this storm will pass and the rainbow will emerge.

Behind Every Cloud

Behind Every Cloud

16x20 oil on canvas

This painting started as a demo for the Waxahachie Art Association. With all this down time I am finding unfinished paintings and working on them.

Remember every cloud has a silver lining. You should not feel hopeless with the recent events.  Difficult times lead to better days.  Use this time to catch up on unfinished projects and enjoy the process.

Ready for Picking Pears

Ready for Picking Pears

14x11 oil on linen panelI saw this pear tree on our bike ride and stopped and took a few photos.

When starting a new painting I like to warm up my canvas with a thin layer of cad red. If you look close you can see
 under painting showing thru.

All Blue

All Blue 30x24 oil on canvas

All blue is all I see in the springtime. I'm warming up my palette knife and getting ready for the blue bonnet season.

This is actually and an older piece I revisited. Some of the gay feather flowers are showing through.  I like the new version!

On a Sunny Day

On a Sunny Day 11x14 oil on canvas

While out on a walk I saw this pink house and took a photo. I've had the image for years and stumbled on it recently. I liked the pink house against the spring greens. You can tell the homeowner loves their little cottage.

Morning Light Show

Morning Light Show 12x16 oil on linen panel

I created this as a demo for the Mansfield Art Association.  When planning this painting I did a value study and a small color study. I've also created a 9x12 of the same scene. When I put so much in the planning the execution is a spontaneous reaction.I touched it up a bit in the studio, signed  it and called it finished.

On a Rural Route

On a Rural Route 8x10 oil on canvas

My goal with this small study was to focus on the values of each shape. It forced me to create shapes with values attached. It was a fun practice and one I picked up from a friend, Beth Eschbach. She provided a demo with the Lake Granbury Art Association on values. It is always inspiring to see another artist's process.

Poppy and Company

Poppy & Company 12x16 oil on canvas

My goal with this painting was to create the sense of the joy I feel when I see the colorful wildflowers. Share the joy of flowers with your

Valentine!  Fresh flowers fade, but this bouquet will last forever.

Lake Side Color Harmony

Lake Side Color Harmony 9x12 oil on linen panel

The sun was breaking through the horizon when I drove up to the lake.     This is one of my favorite views of Benbrook Lake.  The morning clouds were full of light and color. This was painted with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint

A Morning Sunny

A Morning Sunny 14x11 oil on canvas

Wow, this was a fun one to paint. This one seemed to paint itself.  This was based on one of my sunrise photos taken on the road to Ft. Worth from Granbury. A lot of the area is undeveloped and pleasing to the soul.

All Lined Up

All Lined Up 12x16 oil on Ampersand Board

We took a drive to find new ideas for a landscape painting.  I found the  line of cedar trees appealing. I love the way  the yellow grasses highlighted the trees and leads you in to the distant views.

Hunting Zone

Hunting Zone 12x16 oil on canvas

This was inspired from a trip to Rough Creek Lodge. This is an upscale hunting lodge located in Glen Rose. The dirt road lead to a sweet hunting spot that was off limits to us. I know there must be more inspiring views down this road.

Lake Side Gold

Lake Side Gold 7x14 oil on canvas

I was so grateful for warm sunny weather recently. A few of us from our drawing group took our paints outside. We set up on the banks of Lake Granbury.  The tall golden grasses provide a fun focus.  It was windy, but so great to get outside and paint.

A Ride in the Country

A Ride in the Country 11x14 oil on canvas

We recently took a drive just to see if I could find future painting locations. This is a great place with low traffic and sweeping views.  Painting it gave me a  chance to slow down and enjoy the country life.

Patterns of Fall

Patterns of Fall 12 x 16 oil on ampersand board

I love the rich colors of the fall season.  This was created in the studio and inspired from one of my favorite painting locations.

The landscape is changing with new development all around us.  I'm happy to capture this rural landscape while I can.
